Purchasing and Updating
Statistical Software Packages
The purpose of this page is to make users aware of the latest versions and
updates to statistical software that is commonly used at UCLA. A short
list of free statistical software is provided at the end of this page. For
the latest updates for those programs, please visit the link provided.

- Amos
- The current version is Amos 18.
- For more information regarding Amos, please see
http://www.spss.com/amos/ .
- Amos is an SPSS product; however, it is not part
of the SPSS "bundle" that can be purchased from
Software Central. (The
SPSS "bundle" includes SPSS 18 and Sample Power 2.)
- Amos 18 is included in the SPSS Grad Pack (along with SPSS 18) that
students can purchase from the computer store (in the bookstore in Ackerman Union).
- The license for the Grad Pack is good for 4 years.
- Egret
- EQS
- The current version is EQS 6.1.
- EQS can be purchased directly from Multivariate
Software at
http://www.mvsoft.com/ .
- Mac and UNIX versions are available.
- EViews
- HLM
- JMP
- The current version is JMP 8.0.1 for Windows. For Mac, the latest
version is JMP 7.
- Annual licenses for JMP can be purchased from
Software Central . These licenses are good from April 15,
2008 to April 14, 2009.
- LatentGold

- Lisrel 8.8
- LogXact
- Minitab
- MLwiN
- Mplus
- PASS
- Rats
- Sample Power
- The current version is Sample Power 2.0.
- For more information on Sample Power, please see
http://www.spss.com/samplepower/ .
- An annual license for SPSS Sample Power is included with the
purchase of an SPSS license from
Software Central
. These licenses are good from July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009.
- If you are going to install Sample Power onto a Windows Vista
machine, you will need to download the patch from the SPSS support site
( http://support.spss.com ).
- SAS
- Snap
- Solas
- S-plus
- SPSS 17
- The current version is SPSS 17.0.3. There are
two patches to SPSS 17 which can be obtained from the SPSS website or from
within SPSS by clicking on Help -> Check for Updates.
- Please note that with the upgrade to 17.0.2, the name
of the software has changed to PASW Statistics.
- For more information on SPSS, please see
www.spss.com .
- Annual licenses for SPSS can be purchased from
Software Central . These licenses are good from July 1,
2009 to July 31, 2010.
- UCLA has licenses for SPSS Base, Advanced Models
and Regression Model. Other modules for which UCLA does not have a
license (such as Complex Samples, Conjoint Analysis, Categories, Trends,
Tables, Maps, Exact Tests, Missing Values Analysis, Classification Trees
and Data Validation) can be purchased directly from SPSS. Again, you
would purchase an annual license.
- The SPSS license also includes Sample Power (which is a separate
program sold by SPSS), but it does not include Amos 17.
- SPSS 17 is available for the Mac.
- The documentation for SPSS installs with the
software and can be accessed by clicking on Help -> Command Syntax
Reference.

- SPSS 18
- For more information on SPSS, please see

- Annual licenses for SPSS can be purchased from
Software Central . These licenses are good from July 1,
2009 to July 31, 2010.
- UCLA has licenses for SPSS Base, Advanced Models

- SPSS Grad Pack
- This includes SPSS 18 (Base, Regression and Advanced
Models) and Amos 18. It is available for purchase from the computer
store (in the bookstore at Ackerman Union).
- The license is good for 4 years.
- SPSS will support only questions regarding the
installation of the software. You can get patches, but you will not
receive updates to the software. For example, you can get the patches so
that you are running SPSS version 18.0.x, but you will not get SPSS version
19 when it becomes available (unless you buy another Grad Pack).
- Stata IC / Stata SE / Stata MP
- Statistica
- StatTransfer
- StatTransfer can be purchased from Stata at
www.stata.com . Please note that StatTransfer and Stata are
two different programs and must be purchased separately.
- StatTransfer can also be purchased from Circle Systems at
http://www.stattransfer.com/html/store.html .
- The current version is StatTransfer 10. Click on
the "About" tab at the top and select "Now" from the pull-down menu to
update the program.
- The current version of StatTransfer (version 10) is available
for the Mac.

- StatXact
- SUDAAN
- The current version is SUDAAN 10.
- The patches to upgrade version 9 to version 9.0.3 is available for download at
http://www.rti.org/sudaan/page.cfm?objectid=7E8ACB58-B656-4091-8E4896FE14377E5F
(see #5 for the update for Windows machines).
- For more information on SUDAAN, please see
http://www.rti.org/sudaan/ .
- Annual licenses for SUDAAN (both SAS-callable and stand alone) can be
purchased from Software Central . These licenses are good
from January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2010.
- UCLA has licenses for both the Windows and UNIX versions of
SUDAAN.
- The documentation in .pdf format (including the
SUDAAN Language Manual and the SUDAAN Examples Manual) install with
the program and can be found in the Manual folder in the SUDAAN
directory on your computer. If you used the default installation
settings, the manuals will be in c:\program files\sudaan\manual .
